I did the final treatment at 9 am this morning, and have now driven back to Vermont. I feel pretty crappy at the moment, but am glad this part of treatment is over for the moment. After three and half months, I wish I could tell you that I was all finished and life would be returning to “normal” … but that’s just not the way it is. Reality says different.
I do plan to return to work and get back to business after a few days R&R. My back is now pretty well scorched, and once again that lovely sea-sick feeling has taken over. Hopefully by the weekend they’ll be relief from both these things which will allow me to function better.
So, phase one is over, they’ve done what they could do in hopes of holding back the cancer. In six or seven weeks, I’ll begin the process of finding out just what good, if any, all this has done. If I understand correctly, that will takes months to gather enough data to make a reasonable judgement.
I’ll be posting more after a day or two, … or whenever I feel my faculties are back together enough to write something sensible.
Believe me, I’m happy to be finished
… and in time to enjoy the upcoming holiday season!
