Some notes:
It’s Sunday (Valentines Day) and I finally feel like I caught up on much needed sleep this weekend. Sometimes it seems like I live on three to four hours of sleep per day, for weeks at a time. I’m well aware that, that’s probably not a wise thing to do, but it is also unavoidable at times.
There are just too many things in life that need to be accomplished … especially since I may be “under the gun” time wise. But on the other side of the coin, it’s a lot better then being bored to death … literally!
Work has been busy and exciting! We have quite a few projects going on and it makes the time go by quickly … almost too quickly .
The database that I’ve been building for this site is also well underway and I’m hoping that with a little help I can produce a free standing product for others to use too… wouldn’t that be cool. Then we’re off on to Howard’s idea!
For the first time in several months I spent some time outside today. I mean, I go out every day to work, or the store, or something, but usually it’s driving somewhere. Today I spent some time wandering around the yard, pond and back in the woods. I was trying to get a feel for what this spring and summer may be like and while I enjoyed my time outside, it was also interesting to see the limitations I’m facing for this coming summer.
I think one of those “all terrain” wheelchairs is in order here. I came back in exhausted, after an hour or so with my son and had to take a nap … but, it was highly enjoyable even though rough. One thing I did see from today’s adventure outside, is that my thinking about what kind of wheelchair I may get, requires some re-thinking!
If I’m going to get back into the woods and down some of these gravel roads here in Vermont, certainly an “all terrain-er” is in the full consideration department.
For Valentines, I brought home a box of little pastries and cookies from the bakery near work … they make great stuff and the whole family seems to enjoy it now and then as a treat. Chocolate dipped Fresh Strawberries, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip cookies and Chocolate Mousse in the shape of mice, seem to be the favorites here! … but really, everything this little bakery makes is great quality … I can just taste Hyde Park Culinary Institute in everything! I should say the Culinary Institute of America, in Hyde Park , NY.
Yep, I know that place quite well! Anyway, Sher and Alberic go through those boxes of goodies pretty quickly … and that’s good, that’s what it’s all about.
Speaking of Alberic, last night I was showing him how the database for AhShit’s medical data works. I was explaining that by putting information in, you could use it in many different ways on websites … I was keeping the discussion on a lesser level thinking he wasn’t really comprehending what I was saying. I showed him a few math equations and algorithms that I was working on and how they effected the data that was being shown on the page.
Well, after about five minutes of explanations he started to get the idea … which is great because it’s kind of complex for a kid … he continued to look for a few more minutes and then said, “hey Dad, this can’t work! The answers not right!” … and he pointed out a function I had written for averaging numbering of particular columns, by particular date ranges.
Well, I sat back down and began to prove to him that it did in fact work and how it arrived at the answer … but to my surprise he ended up to be right! Yikes, ha ha ha … so, we ended up fixing it right then and there … just another reason to pay attention in math class! It was great fun and gave us something to do for an hour that was different (for him anyway).
That’s it for today … hope all had a good weekend, and hang in there, we’re well into the second half of winter … I can’t wait to feel that first warm Spring breeze blow across my face and for the fresh chives to pop-up in the garden. Not to mention the sugar shacks smoke stacks starting to steam!
BTW … here’s a pic of a funny chair sent in by Harry M.
I love this thing!

I should start a gallery of funny chairs … that’d be awesome
