As usual, a lot of things have been going on in life and keeping me busy and running at full speed. In the work category, we’ve been really busy … I mean really busy and there’s no let up in sight. Today however, I feel like I made a lot of progress on some of the projects I’ve been working on … which is a good or positive feeling. Sometimes it seems like “things” come in to our office quicker then we can possible accomplish them, and that’s just the “putting out of fires” part of it and has nothing to do with software writing or anything else.
But, like I’ve said many times before on the blog, I’d much rather it busy then quiet. I have several projects going on at work that span a wide range from Netware 4.1 to looking into new Windows Servers 2010. So yes, it’s keeping me very busy and involved … and I like that.
While we’re on the subject of programming, slowly but surely I’ve been working on the database that runs this website. OK … I can hear it now “don’t you get enough of that stuff at work?” … well, the answer is yes and no. You see programming your own projects is different then programming for a company. For one, you more artistic freedom in what you’re doing, and that in turn, gives you more incentive to experiment with different ideas and try different things. In general, at a company, they or their clients are driving the needs and usually that doesn’t lead to creative work. But it does lead to work!
Oops, I got off track here … anyway, I’ve been working (slowly I might add) on mining some of the information that I’ve been keeping track of about how I’ve been feeling. I started a while back keeping track of things like stress, depression, appetite, weight etc. ect., but haven’t had a chance until recently to begin to compile some of that information into a useful object or report. Here’s how it started.
