Riding Out The Storm (Update 5) – Sunday, August 28, 2011
Well, we made it! Yep, we have a wet basement, over-flowing ponds, and a stream that’s now a river, but no truely heavy damage done (at least from what we’ve seen so far).
The rains have slowed, and they are forecasting a windy evening which could knock out power tonight … but still, we are very fortunate. Others around us were not so lucky.
I’m hoping my place of employment is in reasonable shape, I beleive the rains and winds were much heavier in that area of the state.
As far as I can tell, it appears that our area took a direct hit from this storm and hopefully it’ll be a long time before we have another like this.
Had it been winter, and all this rain was snow, we’d have about 14 ft!
Our rain gauge says 12-14 inches of rain.
